Revelation Study – Part 7

The Book of Revelations is a highly symbolic book.  There are seven principle themes that are found in this book that begin from the start of the Gospel Day to the end of time.

Our last study showed us the church symbolized by the woman in Revelation 12:1.  The study showed that the church was adorned in the doctrine of Christ, standing upon the Old Covenant and crown with a pure and holy ministry.  In this study, we will continue to show through other scriptures the beautiful church of God in the morning-time of the Gospel Day.

Christ said in Matthew 16:18, “Upon this rock, I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”  Christ church has never been destroyed.  There were times in history that she was obscured and covered by ecclesiastical rubbish, but she has never been destroyed.

Another view of the glorious church of God is seen in Revelations 6:1, 2.  And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.  And I saw, and behold a white horse:  and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him; and he went forth conquering and to conquer.”

The Revelation letter was written A.D. 96 by the Apostle John while on the Isle of Patmos.  The first seal revealed truth that had already taken place in the past.  At the opening of the Gospel Day the church of God was going forth with great glory and power.  Christ was on the white horse taking the church from glory to glory and strength to strength.  Christ was holding the reigns and leading the church forward into the battle.  Christ knows where he is going and he is not going to lead the church in a wrong direction.  He does not lead the church into compromise or into worldliness, but he leads the church into victory.  When men are at the reigns of the church, they take it in the wrong direction.  Many have ended up in apostate conditions because man took the reigns of the church and steered the people away from Christ.  This also shows that the church was submissive to Christ as the head of the church.  Christ is only the head of the church when the people of God voluntarily submit themselves to his leadership.  Many proclaim that Christ is the head but refuse to allow him to lead them into victory; therefore because they refuse to submit to his authority they are defeated by the devil.
